Part 1: Predators That Eat Mosquitoes

Safe Mosquito Control | TickKillz.com

Mosquitoes prefer stagnant conditions for their breeding grounds. Fresh water that moves does not tend to attract them as the place to lay their larvae. However, the following fish predators all eat mosquito larvae: goldfish, mosquito fish, minnows, koi, and guppies. It’s always helpful to know which predators are beneficial to eating the mosquitoes in your backyard.

There are a number of insects and animals that are considered mosquito predators. Some feed on adult mosquitoes, but many eat mosquito larvae. All of the following help to keep the mosquito population at bay:

  • Birds,
  • Frogs
  • Tadpoles
  • Fish
  • Toads
  • Salamanders
  • Spiders

Also, creatures like the small brown bat are known to be able to catch up to 600 mosquitoes in an hour. As well, dragonflies, which feed on insects found around water, hunt down mosquitoes with telescopic vision; they also eat mosquito larvae.  Other flying insects that prey on mosquitoes are crane flies and damselflies.  Crane flies often feed on mosquito larvae but don’t live long enough to feed on the actual insect. Damselflies look like smaller, slimmer versions of dragonflies and have the same taste for mosquitoes.

You already know, however, that nature can’t take care of all the mosquitoes in the world. That’s why it makes sense to get a safe mosquito control like Tick Killz, an all-natural alternative to chemical pest control products.
